3 Years of Trusting Myself

3 years ago on this very day I decided it was time to take control of my life. At the time, I was working for a company that didn’t align with my values, in a role that I felt forced me to break my boundaries and sacrifice my happiness. I was also in a very dark spot struggling to create a family. Nick and I took a last minute trip to Stowe VT right after the New Year and it was there that I decided I was going to quit my job when I returned and we’d start IVF. It was time to start trusting myself.

From that moment my life started to expand in ways I didn’t know possible. I slowly started to let go of the external pressure to please and instead turned inwards to understand what I wanted out of this precious life. This led me to becoming a certified coach through IPEC, where I learned that our energy is everything. I quickly discovered that rest is actually how you reach high performance.

Clients started trusting me with their challenges and uncertainties. Together we grew, many of which I’m still growing with today. I was able to practice focus and prioritization and began pouring more energy into understanding things like the gendered division of domestic labor, our political landscape, the lack of support for the marginalized and how just one toxic leader can poison an entire department or organization.

This began my journey to seek as much information as I can, so that I can be a part of the change that I want to see. While the work I do today has become more focused, the foundation has never changed. I do what I do to expand my body, mind and soul in service of creating a more fair and supportive world for future generations. I’m not sure how 2024 will look, but I know there will be growth, heartache, joy, suffering, laughter and lots and lots of love. Every night I am able to sleep soundly because I know that I am doing work that aligns with my values and every morning I wake up full of gratitude ready to jump back in. This is what trusting yourself feels like.
